Frequently Asked Questions
-
Insurance coverage for physiotherapy is dependent on your specific plan. Each plan is different but typically, physiotherapy is covered for a certain portion. At HerSport Physio there is no direct billing. You are required to pay up front and will need to submit your insurance claim with the receipt you are provided with after all appointments.
-
No, physiotherapy is direct access, meaning you don’t need to have a referral from a physician. Your insurance provider may require a referral in order for coverage to be approved so it’s advised to check to see if that’s the case.

All sessions are 1:1 in a private environment. The first session is a chance to hear your story and why you have come to physiotherapy. During this time, you will be asked a number of questions by the physiotherapist. It’s important to know that nothing is mandatory. If you are uncomfortable with sharing, or answering certain questions, just say pass and we move along with no questions asked.
After getting a full history and understanding of you and your concerns, there will be a physical assessment which includes a movement & postural assessment, strength testing and exercise/movement strategies to see how you respond.
If you are attending for pelvic health physiotherapy, an internal assessment (vaginal or rectal) might be indicated. But again, you will be fully informed about the entire process and you will have to give your consent before we proceed. If you wish to pass on an internal assessment, that’s more than ok! There are lots of other ways to assess your concerns. At the end you usually will have exercise homework based on the finding of the assessment to get you started on your rehab.

Yes, your little babe is welcome to come with you for any appointments or classes you are scheduled for. I’m very used to having little nuggets around. If they are fussy, I can bounce and hold your little babe so you can do your exercise!
